What has your experience been?

Postby ejacobs on Wed Feb 10, 2010 9:50 am

One thing we like to hear from people is feedback about how online classes work for them... easier, harder, more convenient etc?

Does anyone have any stories to share that they thing would be useful for someone considering an online degree program or class?

where your education did not specifically cover that area? Not sure if this is making sense but here...threshold ($1 - $3,000). A I have not had education, training or experience in performing this...but never seem to get anywhere with these applications...exact specific tasks. What should I be answering...the case with these online assessments ...

Hi,
Online courses are perfect for those people that have a busy life. They are convenient and they tend to be cheaper than an actual class. But i have heard that if you pursue an online degree it is not as valuable as a regular degree.

Also it depends what courses you take online. If you take a liberal arts class like creative writing, or history etc..., than it is not bad. They are quite easy to follow and do well. The problem is with science courses, they tend to be very hard. If there is something you dont understand you wont be able to stop the professor and ask a question. The grading system is different too. Since you are at home doing your HW and tests, than they tend to be much longer and harder.

This website, CareerInfo411.com, has some good information. Take a look, maybe you will find something helpful.

Best of luck

Yeah....I've never taken them before either, but I hear it's all about how your learning behavior is. If you learn better by teaching yourself and learning through your computer or you need that classroom atmosphere and peers to interact with. The greatest advantage about online classes is probably just the scheduling of classes and being able to work around your schedule--great for those with SUPER busy schedules!!

My experience could be described by the term "smooth sailing"! Besides just the convenience factor of learning in your home or on the road, I found the interaction in the courses to be outstanding. In big lecture halls on college campuses, it's easy to get lost in the back and not interact or become as involved in a class as you intend, but with online colleges it's MANDATORY that you participate, as it is usually a part of your grade. You become very engaged and learn more in the long run.
